Finance Compliance Officer
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £28,000 per annum

Schedule:
- 35 hours per week. Monday – Friday 9.00 – 4.30pm
- 25 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays
- 3% ACU pension contribution on total salary
Work Location: In person at our Erdington Office

Education
Good standard of general education in particular English Language and Mathematics ( Above grade of C ) |
AAT qualification (or working towards AAT qualification) |
Experience and Knowledge
A minimum of 2 years finance experience |
Previous experience of developing & managing compliance systems & controls |
Experience of acting within and meeting regulatory framework expectations and working within a regulated environment, ideally FCA/PRA. ( Sound overview of responsible finance and financial inclusion ) |
Experience of identifying and reporting risks effectively |
A clear understanding of ethical lending standards, A clear understanding of the expectations of regulatory bodies in relation to lending. |

● With management oversight, be responsible for the financial records of Advance Credit Union.
● Ensuring legal and financial regulatory compliance for the Credit Union
● To be responsible for the day-to-day financial processing and bank reconciliation.
● With Board oversight, be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all legislative, regulatory and policy and procedural requirements.
Role purpose
● Posting downloaded bank transactions to the finance system each morning and reconciling the three main current accounts to the closing balance on a daily basis.
● Resolve any discrepancies, identify and fix the discrepancy
● Posting schedules received from Payroll Deduction partners to members accounts.
● Payments to suppliers using faster payments through internet banking under the supervision of the General Manager.
● Posting journals as requested by the Finance Manager
● Maintaining cashflow by transferring money between current accounts and from deposit accounts and vice versa while maximising interest receivable following the treasury policy guidelines.
● Proactively monitor members accounts and be responsible for keeping members accounts accurate and up to date.
● Process grant returns, income & expenditure, collating grant statistics
● Monitor financial processes, ensuring continuous improvement and best practice to minimise financial risk to the Credit Union, including financial crime and fraud.
● To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post as directed by the General Manager.
● To treat all Credit Union members, enquirers, staff, volunteers and board with respect and dignity at all times in compliance with our Treating Customers Fairly Policy.
● To preserve client confidentiality at all times. To abide by the Data Protection Act 2018 as amended and other relevant regulations.
● Support the Board Of Directors & GM in meeting their compliance responsibilities under the PRA rulebook and FCA creds handbook.
● Manage the Credit Union’s compliance plan, considering forthcoming compliance issues and horizon scanning.
● Provide monthly Compliance & Tracker reports to the Board of Directors, advising on completed & upcoming compliance monitoring as required and in line with the compliance plan.
● Developing & managing compliance system & controls, evidencing that the Credit Union’s approach is member centric and assesses on-going effectiveness with the relevant regulation & legislation, and regulatory guidance.
● Recommending & drafting proposed amendments to governance policies within the annual cycle, focusing on guidelines, rules and procedures to ensure compliance, with a member-centric approach.
● Monitoring & ensuring compliance of documentation, product terms, advertising, marketing materials & website information.
● Ensuring that complaints are managed in line with FCA rules and the Credit Union’s internal procedures.
● Reporting compliance exception appropriately and maintaining an accurate breach register and ensuring all remedial work is completed.
● Undertake any other appropriate duties as requested by the Board of Directors or the GM.
